OUR CLASSES
Adult courses are structured to give you total creative versatility by pairing technical mastery with the freedom to experiment.
Beginners will fast-track their learning curve with a solid, step-by-step introduction to both wheel throwing and handbuilding (depending on your class), giving you a complete toolkit to work with the material right from the start.
Intermediate students receive the targeted, expert guidance needed to troubleshoot advanced techniques and bring ambitious, self-directed projects to life. You’ll leave class with a strong technical foundation, a refined design sense, and the autonomy to build whatever you imagine.
Lowercase Clay kids classes allow young creators to unlock their imagination and build deep creative confidence. Clay is the ultimate intuitive medium—there are no mistakes, only opportunities to reshape and reinvent.
By exploring foundational handbuilding techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab construction, kids discover the joy of translating their biggest ideas into tangible, three-dimensional art.
We offer separate classes for kids 7-11 years and 12-16 years. (Teens 17+ should enroll in adult classes.)
Seasonal Workshops are perfect for a first-time experience with clay, unique date night, or screen-free weekend.
In a single session, you will create a functional or sculptural piece, choose your house glaze, and we finish and fire your work. Return in 2-3 weeks to pick up your food-, dishwasher- and microwave-safe piece.
Skill-building workshops are designed to complement our regular classes by diving into special topics such as glaze application, surface decoration, handle design, or introductory sculpture.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

HANDBUILDING
Our handbuilding classes are structured to give you total creative versatility by pairing technical mastery with the freedom to experiment. Learn the 3 primary handbuilding methods: pinch, slab, and coil. We begin with strong foundations in materials and technique, then add strategies for combining methods to create work that is truly greater than the sum of its parts.
Handbuilding classes are perfect for new students because you will build a deep understanding of clay’s properties, which is incredibly helpful if you move on to the wheel.

WHEEL
Master the wheel with intention. You will learn to navigate the physics of the wheel with clarity and control, while expanding your understanding of modern aesthetics, clean geometry, and ergonomics.
Whether you are an ambitious beginner looking to get centered with total control, an intermediate maker ready to push your boundaries with scale and complex forms, or an advanced artist executing new techniques, this course delivers the practical skills and design-forward perspective to elevate your entire practice. Progressing on the wheel takes time and patience - no instant gratification here!
Our instructors combine creativity and technical experience in their approach, we emphasize safe and efficient studio practices, and we structure the learning journey for makers to advance confidently.
We foster community through small class sizes, a warm and highly inclusive studio culture, and hosting community events as a third-space.
